How To Stitch Past The Zipper Slider
Perhaps one of the more confusing aspects of sewing a zipper application is stitching past the zipper slider without interrupting the stitch's smoothness and evenness. This is especially true when sewing separating zippers that require the zipper tape to be fully stitched from top to bottom. Luckily, there is a simple trick you can use to move the zipper slider out of the way and continue to stitch effortlessly in a straight line:
When arriving in front of the zipper slider, insert the needle securely into the garment and zipper tape layers, and keeping the needle inserted, lift the presser foot and pull the tab to move the slider past the needle to the area that has already been stitched.
Now that the slider is safely out of the way, drop the presser foot and continue stitching in an even, smooth application.
