Sewing Tip: Use longer cutting strokes when cutting your sewing patterns along straight edges, especially longer ones.
Using long cutting strokes will not only result in a smoother cut edge, it will also speed up the pattern cutting process. When cutting your garment pieces using pinned patterns, it is essential that you cut each piece as accurately as possible. It is no secret that when cutting your patterns down longer, straight edges the fabric layers underneath can shift around and de-stabilize the pattern alignment. Using longer cutting strokes and keeping all layers as flat as possible during this process will provide extra stability resulting in a jagged-free cut edge.
